DefSat 2025: Space Warfare and AI Solutions in Defence to Take Centre Stage

Next month, January 2025,  India will host the much-awaited DefSat 2025 Conference and Expo, bringing together leaders from the defence and space sectors to explore the growing influence of space technology in modern warfare. The event, scheduled to take place from January 8-10 at the Manekshaw Centre, will focus on cutting-edge innovations such as quantum key distribution, non-kinetic space warfare, and AI-powered defence solutions. The primary goal is to examine how these advancements can be leveraged to strengthen homeland security.

The conference will serve as a platform for strategists and business leaders in the defence and space industries to share insights and explore new opportunities. The third edition of the DefSat Conference aims to highlight the increasing importance of space technology in securing India’s borders. As space becomes a critical factor in national security, DefSat 2025 will showcase the synergies between defence modernisation and India’s expanding space ambitions.

The theme of the three-day event, “Integrated Space Capabilities for Multi-Domain Operations,” will explore how disruptive space technologies are transforming modern warfare across multiple domains, including land, maritime, aerospace, cyberspace, and homeland security.

One of the key highlights of the conference will be the IndSpace Wargame 3.0. This simulation will unite defence practitioners, industry leaders, and international experts to address real-world space security challenges. It aims to demonstrate the complexities of space operations and highlight India’s readiness to navigate the ever-evolving space domain.

DefSat 2025 is hosted by the Satcom Industry Association-India (SIA-India) and is supported by several prominent organisations, including the Department of Defence Production, Ministry of Defence, Defence Research and Development Organisation, NewSpace India Ltd, the Astronautical Society of India, the Aeronautical Society of India, and the Centre for Land Warfare Studies (CLAWS), which is serving as the knowledge partner.

Dr Subba Rao Pavuluri, President of SIA-India and CMD of Ananth Technologies, said, "The integration of space technology into defence strategies has become indispensable in today’s geopolitical landscape."

A dedicated session will be held on "Harnessing Space Technologies for Comprehensive Homeland Security," which will feature senior officers from Central Armed Police Forces, state police forces, and paramilitary forces. This session will address how space technology can be used to enhance security operations across the country.
