Maha Kumbh Mela: THIS 13-Yr-Old Girl from Agra Renounces IAS Dream to Embrace Life as a ‘Sadhvi’

AGRA: In a big move, a 13-year-old girl from Agra, Uttar Pradesh, has chosen to renounce her ambition of becoming an IAS officer to embrace the spiritual path as a ‘sadhvi.’ This life-changing decision was made during her family's visit to the Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj, as reported by sources.

From IAS Aspirations to Spiritual Calling

Rakhi, the young girl, once aspired to join the prestigious Indian Administrative Service (IAS). However, her experience at the Maha Kumbh Mela led her to a profound realization of detachment from worldly pursuits. Speaking about her transformation, her mother, Reema Singh, shared, “Rakhi always dreamed of becoming an IAS officer, but during the Maha Kumbh, she felt a strong pull toward a spiritual life.”

How the Journey Began

The family’s association with spirituality began three years ago when Mahant Kaushal Giri Maharaj of the Juna Akhara started visiting their village in Agra. During these visits, he conducted Bhagwat Katha sessions, which deeply influenced Rakhi and her family. Over time, Rakhi became increasingly drawn to his teachings, ultimately deciding to take the guru diksha, or initiation, under his guidance.

As preparations for the Maha Kumbh 2025 began, the family traveled to Prayagraj to serve at the Juna Akhara camp. It was here that Rakhi revealed her desire to renounce worldly life and become a sadhvi.

Parental Support and New Beginnings

Rakhi’s parents fully supported her decision, viewing it as divine intervention. Reema Singh explained, “When Rakhi expressed her wish to become a sadhvi, we felt it was God’s will and did not object.”

Mahant Kaushal Giri Maharaj confirmed their decision, stating that Rakhi’s acceptance into the ashram was voluntary.

As part of her new spiritual identity, Rakhi has been given the name Gauri Giri, marking the beginning of her life as a sadhvi.

The Renunciation Process

Rakhi’s transition involves following the ancient tradition of renunciation, where individuals detach themselves from material and familial ties to dedicate their lives to spiritual service and devotion.

On January 19, Rakhi will officially become Gauri Giri through rituals, including the “pind daan” ceremony, which symbolizes the renunciation of worldly life. This marks her formal acceptance into the Guru’s family and the start of her spiritual journey.

Rakhi’s story is a profound reminder of the transformative power of faith and spirituality. Her journey from aspiring IAS officer to embracing the life of a sadhvi demonstrates the profound impact of spiritual calling and familial support in shaping one’s path.
