New Delhi : Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to lead the grand nationwide observance of Veer Bal Diwas on December 26, 2024. The event will take place at the prestigious Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi, highlighting the significance of this occasion dedicated to honoring the bravery and sacrifice of young warriors in Indian history. The event, scheduled to begin at noon, underscores the critical role of children as the foundation of India's future.
As part of the celebrations, the Prime Minister will unveil the Suposhit Gram Panchayat Abhiyan, an initiative aimed at improving nutritional outcomes and overall well-being. The program will strengthen the delivery of nutrition-related services and encourage active community participation to create sustainable impact at the grassroots level, according to a release from the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).
Engaging Activities for Young Minds
To mark the occasion, various activities and initiatives will be held across the country to foster awareness about the significance of Veer Bal Diwas. Online competitions such as interactive quizzes, storytelling sessions, creative writing, and poster-making will be organized on platforms like MyGov and MyBharat Portals. These engaging activities aim to inspire young minds while promoting courage, dedication, and patriotism.
Schools, Child Care Institutions, and Anganwadi centers will actively participate in these programs, ensuring widespread involvement. Awardees of the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar (PMRBP) are also expected to attend the event, adding to the significance of the celebrations.
Honoring the Legacy of Sahibzadas
Veer Bal Diwas, celebrated annually on December 26, is a tribute to the unparalleled courage and sacrifice of the Sahibzadas, the four sons of Guru Gobind Singh Ji, the tenth Sikh Guru. This day commemorates the martyrdom of Zorawar Singh and Fateh Singh, the youngest Sahibzadas, who were martyred on December 26, 1705, for refusing to convert to Islam. At the tender ages of six and nine, they were bricked alive by Mughal commander Wazir Khan, leaving an indelible mark on India's history.
This observance, which holds profound significance in Sikh history, honors the Sahibzadas' unwavering faith and bravery. For the first time in India's history, a national day has been dedicated to acknowledging the sacrifices of children, making Veer Bal Diwas a poignant reminder of the courage required to uphold justice and principles.
