On November 19, SpaceX successfully launched the GSAT-20 satellite, developed by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida. This event marked the first collaboration between SpaceX and ISRO, a significant step in strengthening global ties in space technology.
The GSAT-20 satellite, also known as GSAT-N2, was launched aboard SpaceX's Falcon 9 rocket, which lifted off at 12:01 AM IST from Space Launch Complex 40. The rocket successfully placed the satellite into a geosynchronous transfer orbit, with precision, as confirmed by Radhakrishnan Durairaj, Chairman and Managing Director of New Space India Limited (NSIL), the commercial arm of ISRO.
The GSAT-20 satellite is a cutting-edge communication satellite developed by ISRO’s Satellite Centre and Liquid Propulsion Systems Centre. With a data transmission capacity of 48 Gbps, it aims to boost broadband services and provide in-flight connectivity across India, enhancing communication capabilities nationwide.
This launch marks the beginning of a promising partnership between ISRO and SpaceX, with future collaborations expected to expand the scope of space technology and services globally.
