A blast occurred near a PVR cinema in Delhi's Prashant Vihar area today at 11:48 AM, according to reports. The Delhi Fire Service responded quickly, sending fire tenders to the site. The explosion, believed to be of low intensity, caused injury to a tempo driver, who was taken to Dr. Baba Saheb Ambedkar Hospital for treatment.
Sources have confirmed that a white powdery substance was discovered near the blast site, raising concerns due to a similar substance found in a previous blast incident near a CRPF school in Rohini. Despite the blast, the intensity was not enough to cause significant damage, as the tempo's windshield, stationed near the explosion, remained intact. This suggests that a small amount of explosive material may have been used, likely aimed at causing panic rather than significant harm.
In October, a similar white powder was found after a high-intensity blast near the CRPF school in Rohini, which left the local community shaken. Authorities are currently investigating the cause of today’s blast.
Meanwhile, The National Security Guard (NSG) team arrived at the blast site in Delhi’s Prashant Vihar, where they conducted a thorough investigation, accompanied by sniffer dogs. Specialized teams from the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and the Delhi Police Special Cell also carried out an extensive analysis of the area. A case has been registered with the local police.
NSG’s bomb disposal squad collected several substances from the scene and is preparing a detailed report on the materials used in the blast. Their investigation aims to understand the mechanics and origin of the explosion. Meanwhile, Delhi Police will submit their findings to the Union Ministry of Home Affairs for further review.
