Apple has quietly rolled out the third developer beta for its iOS 18.3 update, with the build number 22C5131e. The public beta version is expected to be available next week. iOS 18.3 is set to bring the second phase of Apple's AI features, called Apple Intelligence, to iPhones, and is likely to be released to the general public in December.
Key New Features in iOS 18.3
ChatGPT Integration in Siri-Â One of the standout features in iOS 18.3 is the integration of ChatGPT into Siri. This means users can now access OpenAI's ChatGPT for help directly through Siri. Before sending a request to ChatGPT, users will be consulted, and their IP addresses will be masked, ensuring privacy. OpenAI will not store any requests made through Siri.
ChatGPT Usage Data in Settings - iOS 18.3 also introduces a feature allowing users to track their ChatGPT usage in the Settings app. Users can see their usage limits and have the option to upgrade to ChatGPT Premium if they wish. While ChatGPT integration is available through Siri, it currently allows access to only a limited number of queries using the GPT-4o model. Once the limit is reached, OpenAI will switch to the more affordable GPT-4o mini model.
Enhanced Camera Control Settings - Apple has added new options for Camera Control, introduced with the iPhone 16 series. Users can now lock exposure and focus by double-pressing the Camera Control button. This feature is turned off by default but can be enabled in the ‘Camera Control’ menu within the Settings app. Additionally, there is a new setting to adjust the double-click speed of Camera Control, with options like ‘Default’, ‘Slow’, and ‘Slower’.
