OnePlus Open Apex Edition: Chinese tech leader OnePlus is gearing up to launch an exciting new variant of its foldable phone. The company has revealed the OnePlus Open Apex Edition, featuring a striking Crimson Shadow color. This highly anticipated model will be officially unveiled on August 7, according to a recent blog update from OnePlus. This move is expected to make a significant impact in the competitive foldable smartphone sector.
The OnePlus Open Apex Edition promises to offer advanced features, including increased storage capacity, improved AI image editing capabilities, and enhanced security measures, all aligning with OnePlus’s 'Never Settle' ethos.
Inspired by the iconic Hasselblad 503CW 60 Years Victor Red Edition, the Apex Edition boasts a luxurious design with a premium vegan leather back, a diamond-like pattern, and vivid orange accents on the Alert Slider, creating an elegant and timeless look. Pricing details for this new smartphone have not yet been released.
The OnePlus Open is designed to be both compact and lightweight. It measures 153.4 mm in height, with a width of 143.1 mm when unfolded and 73.3 mm when folded. Thickness varies by color: the Emerald Dusk model is 5.8 mm thick when unfolded and 11.7 mm when folded, while the Voyager Black variant measures 5.9 mm and 11.9 mm, respectively.
The device features a 7.82-inch Flexi-fluid AMOLED main display with a peak brightness of up to 2800 nits. Its cover display is 6.31 inches with a 2K resolution and 431 ppi, both offering a smooth 120Hz refresh rate.
For photography, the OnePlus Open includes a 48MP primary camera with Sony's LYT-T808 "Pixel Stacked" CMOS sensor and optical image stabilization (OIS), a 64MP telephoto camera, and a 48MP ultra-wide camera, capable of recording 4K videos at 60 FPS. It also has a 20MP front camera and a 32MP lens for selfies.
Running on OxygenOS 13.2, based on Android 13, the OnePlus Open is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor. It will receive four years of major Android updates and five years of security updates, ensuring extended software support.
The phone is equipped with a 4,805 mAh battery that supports 67W fast charging. OnePlus claims the battery can charge from 1% to 100% in approximately 42 minutes, offering over a day's worth of use on a single charge.
