Google is expanding its generative AI tools for email drafting and editing, making it easier for users on both web and mobile platforms to create polished emails. The new features, unveiled at Google Cloud Next '24, introduce convenient shortcuts designed to streamline the email writing process.
When users open an empty draft on the web, they will see the "Help me write" shortcut, while the "Polish" option will appear for drafts containing more than 12 words. By simply clicking on these shortcuts or using the Ctrl+H keyboard combination, users can enhance their email content, making it more refined and readable.
The "Help Me Write" feature allows users to generate complete email drafts based on their prompts. Users can provide a description of the content they want, and the AI will create a customized draft. Additionally, there are options to adjust the tone, length, and style of the email using the "Refine" button or the "I'm feeling lucky" feature.
New Voice Prompts for Email Composition
One of the most exciting updates is the introduction of voice prompting. This new capability enables users to dictate their email content using simple notes or bullet points. Gmail's AI will then convert these spoken thoughts into a professionally crafted email. This feature is particularly beneficial for individuals on the go or those who wish to save time on typing. Users can now simply speak their ideas and let Gmail's AI handle the writing.
With these enhancements, Google continues to make email communication more efficient and user-friendly, catering to the needs of a modern workforce.
