WhatsApp has announced that it will stop working on older Android devices from 2025. Starting January 1, WhatsApp will no longer be compatible with phones running Android KitKat (version 4.4) or earlier. This change means users with older Android devices will need to upgrade their phones to continue using the popular messaging app.

The decision comes as WhatsApp aims to focus on newer technology and features that cannot be supported by older hardware. This is especially relevant as WhatsApp has already incorporated Meta AI and is planning to introduce more AI-based features in the future, which require more advanced processing capabilities.

To put it in perspective, Android KitKat, first released in 2013, is now considered outdated, and Google ended its support for the system earlier this year.

Many well-known Android models will no longer be gettingsupport WhatsApp, which include:

WhatsApp’s Policy for iPhone Users
WhatsApp has also announced it will stop supporting iPhones running iOS 15.1 or earlier versions. This change could affect older iPhone models like the iPhone 5s, iPhone 6, and iPhone 6 Plus.

As technology continues to evolve, it’s important for users to keep their devices updated to ensure compatibility with popular apps like WhatsApp. If you’re using an older Android or iPhone, consider upgrading sooner rather than later to avoid any disruption in service.
